Campbell Hatton, son of rising British boxing star and former world champion Ricky Hatton, says boxing fans are “getting carried away” by recent footage of Mike Tyson training for his return to the ring this summer.

Since the fight was announced last month, the 57-year-old has uploaded several clips to his Twitter page, showcasing his quick hands and vicious jabs and uppercuts.

The video led to many fans issuing warnings to Jake Paul, just months before the July game in Texas.

Tyson will be 58 when they both step into the ring, while YouTube star Paul will be just 27. Despite Paul's age advantage, bookmakers have made the older boxer the favorite.

Hatton, on the other hand, believes it will be very different when we actually see the former undisputed heavyweight champion in the ring against an opponent 30 years his junior.

talking talk sports Last week, he said: “People are going to get carried away because Tyson looks an absolute monster on the training ground and in training.

“But he's 57 now. If it's the way you raise your hand, he's going to go in and mess him up.

“But he's a 57-year-old guy and now he's expected to go through round after round of fights and shootings. His ability to fight off blows disappeared in the early 2000s and it's not going to get any better, and this whole thing makes him People are sad.”

As of now, it's unclear whether the match will be classified as an exhibition or professional match. The number of rounds has also not yet been determined.

Paul's last fight was in February, when he defeated Ryan Bolland in the first round, with his only loss coming to Tommy Fury.

Tyson, on the other hand, has only fought once since retiring in 2005, a draw with Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition match in 2020.

Many have criticized the 27-year-old entertainer for agreeing to fight a man 30 years his senior, but Paul insists “people underestimate my ability to stand up to his strength and that would make things interesting.”

Speaking on his podcast, Bachelor with Jake Paul Recently, the former Disney actor said: “This is definitely the toughest, most brutal, deadliest opponent – young or old, because power is the last place to go.”

“But the response and reception to it has been crazy,” he added. “I almost can’t believe it – it’s so surreal and so, so, so grateful for it all.

“I want to see how hard he hits. Mike, I really want to see that, man. Let's see all the legends, the myths, because you're 'Iron' Mike Tyson – but I have an iron Chin. People know that. I shoot.”

Tyson vs. Paul will also be streamed on Netflix. It will be the major streaming company's third foray into live sports, following last year's Netflix Cup and Netflix Grand Slam.

Hatton, 23, also believes new fans of the sport get the wrong idea.

He said: “If Jake Paul goes in and knocks him out because of boxing resistance and age, you don’t want them to think Paul beat him.

“It was easy for Paul to go in and beat him up, which gave the wrong interpretation to newer fans who got into boxing through YouTube.

“You don't want new viewers to get the wrong idea that they can do that.”

Hatton suffered his first career loss when he lost a unanimous decision to James Flint in Sheffield on Saturday night.
