“Don't do this to us!”
Greggs fans were shocked after realizing a much-loved item had been removed from the menu.
There are few high street chains more popular than Greggs. Whether it's classic sausage rolls, cheese and bean melts, savory treats or donuts, there's something for everyone.
One thing you won't find in bakeries anymore, though, is vegan steak bakes.
The product, which consists of some 96 layers of beautiful puff pastry filled with Quorn slices, onions and gravy, has previously been labeled “unauthentic” by some.
Greggs announced after first withdrawing from shelves in 2021 Baking is back Earlier this year.
Fans of Greggs were ecstatic about its return, with one writing: “I grilled a vegan steak for the first time since they came back and oh my god it's unreal.”
Another said: “Gregs is bringing back grilled vegan steaks and I'm crying with joy.”
But less than four months later, it was gone again.
In recent days, some people have noticed the pastry disappearing from stores, sparking concern.
One person commented: “Where did the vegan steak go? Don't do this to us!”
Another asked: “Why has the vegan steak bake disappeared again?”
A third wrote: “I just heard you're throwing the Vegan Steak Bake in the bin again?! Please don't do this to us. I love Vegan Steak Bake. Will miss it so much.”
Another urged the bakery: “Please don't bake vegan steaks again. There are plenty of options for all non-vegans. That's the only good thing.”
Sadly, there's bad news for these vegan steak bake lovers, as Greggs has confirmed that the bake will be leaving again as part of a menu update.
A spokesman said: “Our vegan steak bake menu will be paused from the menu to make way for delicious vegan options to be launched next week.”
But Greggs added that some stores may still have stock, adding: “Fans of the Vegan Steak Bake should snap up while supplies last!”
