Boyley will be replaced
Chelsea are set to appoint a new chairman to replace Todd Boley.
As part of the deal, the club's American co-owners can hand over the chairmanship every five years, with this to be achieved within three years, the Daily Mail reported.
It has not yet been decided who will replace Boehly, but one of Behdad Eghbali or Jose Feliciano is likely to take over until 2032. At that point, Boehly can choose to return and reclaim his minority stake if he chooses. .
Is there a problem upstairs?
Speculations about tensions between Boly and Clearlake Capital have been dismissed by Chelsea, with the pair in regular contact.
Since joining in 2022, fans of the two-time European champions have often pointed the finger at Boly, saying he is one of the reasons for the team's steep decline in the table.
Reports suggest Boli's approach is more long-term, while Egbali and Feliciano want quick success to ease the pressure placed on them by investors.
The Blues are 11th in the Premier League and have been heavily criticized for losing the Carabao Cup final to a young and inexperienced Liverpool side.
Despite the misfortune, Chelsea reached the FA Cup semi-finals and will face Manchester City. If they maintain good form before the end of the season, they might even be able to qualify for Europe.
