“He is a manager of a big club”
Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel believes Thomas Tuchel is the perfect candidate to replace Erik ten Hag.
Ten Hague's future hangs in the balance after another dismal campaign, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe reportedly looking to overhaul the players and coaching staff as part of his long-term vision.
Meanwhile, Tuchel is set to leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season after the club missed out on a first Bundesliga title in 12 years.
But the German has been hailed for a quick return to management and he has been repeatedly linked with a role that may soon be vacant at Old Trafford.
Tuchel was impressed during his interview
Reports suggest the former Chelsea boss has been in contact with United officials and impressed in interviews, making him one of the favorites for the job.
When asked what he thought of BeIN Sports, Schmeichel felt there was no one better suited to take charge at Old Trafford.
“I like Thomas Tuchel. I had the pleasure of interviewing him a few times and his football knowledge is fantastic,” he said.
“He was a bit unlucky to have joined two big football clubs at the wrong time in history when things were not going well on all levels. It's not that he didn't do well at Chelsea, for example. I mean, he Won the Champions League, wasn't it?
“I just like him, there's something about him. He shows an authority. Never compare people, but he has the same thing as (Jurgen) Klopp. You know he's the boss, you know he's in do what.”
Despite Bayern's poor domestic form, they still have the potential to end the season with a trophy.
They will face Real Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League semi-finals on Tuesday.
