Customer needs to return product

Aldi has issued a “Do Not Eat” alert for its tortilla wraps and police are currently investigating.

The supermarket chain has recalled a batch of Village Bakery 8 Tortilla Wraps White over concerns they may have been tampered with and may contain metal.

The product was removed from shelves last month and anyone in possession of packaging with a best before date of April 29, 2024 is urged to return it to the branch where it was purchased.

They will receive a full refund.

The issue affects all Signature Flatbreads UK products (package size 8x62g) before 29 April 2024.

Aldi's other products are not affected.

Aldi stores have put up warning posters telling shoppers not to eat the product, the Daily Star reports.

Aldi said in a statement: “As a precautionary measure, our supplier is recalling Village Bakery 8 Tortilla Wraps White as the product may be contaminated with metal fragments.

“We would like to reassure customers that no other Aldi products have been affected and we apologize for any inconvenience caused.”

A spokesman for Bedfordshire Police said: “We have received a report that suspected contaminated food came from a warehouse in Dunstable.

“Investigations are currently ongoing and police are working closely with the Food Standards Agency (FSA) and the affected warehouse.

“Anyone with information can make a report online quoting reference number 40/14332/24.”

Customers who require more information or have questions should contact Aldi on 0800 042 0800 or visit help.aldi.co.uk.
