Then I can't be a Greggs fan.

The fiancée of a Newcastle United player told him to leave the club because she didn't like the city.

In a scathing assessment of the city, Italian TV presenter Diletta Leotta, wife of Loris Karius, points out how painful it is to be away from each other thing, especially after the recent birth of their daughter, Aria.

Leotta told Italian newspaper Tuttosport: “Lloris has people working for him and I hope he makes the best decision for his career.

“I live in Milan, so I can say that being close to Milan is ideal for us. I always tell him that players who come to Serie A fall in love with Italy and often stay there forever. I think that is also possible Happened to him.

“(He should join) Monza or any other team in Italy. I would be happy if he could come to Italy and play near his family.”

Leotta also admitted that she wasn't the biggest fan of the North East city and that it was much harder to get to than if she lived in places like Manchester or London.

“Newcastle is very inconvenient because there are no direct flights. It's neither about Paris nor Amsterdam,” she added.

Karius could consider leaving in the summer

Karius joined the Magpies as the club's third goalkeeper but was forced into action in certain situations.

Most notably, the former Liverpool goalkeeper had to start in Newcastle United's League Cup final against Manchester United after Nick Pope was ruled out through injury and Martin Dubravka was no longer eligible to feature for United.

The 30-year-old's contract expires at the end of the season, so he can leave and reunite with his family in the summer.
