General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out: “The vast number of agricultural science and technology workers in our country have made arduous efforts and made important contributions to ensuring national food security and ensuring that the people have enough food and clothing.” “It is necessary to strengthen the promotion and application of modern agricultural science and technology and technical training, and put seeds into use.” Major grain households have organized themselves to actively develop green agriculture, ecological agriculture, and efficient agriculture.

Taking root in the fertile soil of the countryside, leading villagers to increase their income and become rich; “smart” breeding makes the breeding industry more and more promising; sending skills to your doorstep to help stabilize and increase food production… A large number of young agricultural science and technology talents are working hard and forging ahead bravely in the vast countryside. Show positive actions and contribute to the promotion of comprehensive rural revitalization.

This edition focuses on three young people, showing vivid scenes of them going deep into the fields to provide technical support and services to farmers, and telling touching stories of their youthful elegance in promoting the construction of an agricultural power.

Agricultural technology promoter Sudan——

“Help the folks grow good food and harvest more food.”

Reporter Yuan Taoxiong

“How do you think the wheat is growing now?” “Should we spray fertilizer on the leaves and how to manage it?” Ma Yuchuan, a major grain grower in Youhuai Street, Lintong District, Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province, is making a special trip to the Lintong District Agricultural Technology Extension Service Center Sudan, a technical extension officer at the Agricultural Technology Extension Service Center, consulted on wheat field management issues.

“You see, the wheat has already headed and has entered the heading and flowering period. During this period, it is necessary to do a good job in field monitoring and control of pests and diseases and the 'one spray and three prevention' work.” Sudan carefully checked the moisture content, seedling condition, and the occurrence of diseases and insect pests, while following Ma Yuchuan said.

In late April, more than 500,000 acres of wheat in Lintong District has entered the heading and flowering stage. This is the peak period of damage caused by major wheat diseases and pests. Many agricultural technicians like Sudan are active in the fields to check the seedling conditions, monitor diseases and pests, and study and judge diseases and pests. trends, guide farmers to carry out prevention and control in a timely and reasonable manner, and do a good job of “one spray and three preventions”.

“How well the wheat flowering period is managed is directly related to yield and quality.” Sudan said that due to heavy rainfall in the early stage, the current soil moisture is suitable and the wheat is growing well. The heading to grain-filling period is the stage when various diseases and insect pests of wheat occur intensively. It is more necessary for agricultural technicians to provide precise technical guidance to wheat growers, and provide specific technical suggestions based on time, location and seedlings, so as to provide technical support for a good summer grain harvest.

“I have been engaged in agricultural technology extension work for more than 10 years. I have become accustomed to dealing with soil. I hope to help the villagers grow good food and harvest more food.” Out of his love for agriculture, Sudan graduated from the School of Agriculture of Shihezi University in June 2013. Later, he decided to return to the countryside and work in the fields. “The country is vigorously promoting the construction of modern agriculture, and I believe young people have great potential,” Sudan said.

Xue Lina, a new professional farmer——

“Rely on scientific farming and increase income with technology”

Our reporter Li Rui

The valley seedlings are green and swaying in the wind. A young woman walked along the field ridge, with her hair tied into a ponytail and neatly tucked behind her ears. Her skin was dark and rosy, and she had a pair of glasses on the bridge of her nose.

Xue Lina was born and grew up in the ground, plowed the ground and played in the field. After graduating from China Agricultural University in 2008, Xue Lina decided to return to her hometown, Mazhuang Town, Daiyue District, Tai'an City, Shandong Province, and became a new type of professional farmer.

The villagers didn’t understand: “I finally got into college, why did I come back?” Xue Lina had her own idea: “Use what you have learned to lead the villagers to farm scientifically.”

The terrain of Mazhuang Town is flat and there are many farmers farming. However, the farmland is scattered and the efficiency is low. Therefore, Xue Lina and her fellow villagers set up a cooperative to pursue large-scale planting.

Xue Lina stayed in the fields, learning while working, buying improved seeds, buying farm machinery, and learning techniques… There were blood blisters on her hands, and when she touched them, she grinned in pain, but she felt sweet in her heart: “The happiest thing in a year There are two things, one is seeing the sprouts breaking through the ground, the other is seeing the harvest.

“We show it to farmers and lead them to work.” Xue Lina said that currently, the cooperative has 268 members and operates more than 1,300 acres of land. It provides social services to an area of 100,000 acres every year, benefiting nearly 15,000 farmers.

“A fellow villager told me that as long as they see me in the fields, they will feel that something is right. I am happy from the bottom of my heart.” Farm and increase income with technology.

 Farmer technician Ni Chuang——

“Use new technologies to get rich”

Our reporter Wang Xinyue

All the way south from the main urban area of Chongqing, a village mainly engaged in “fishing” – Shajing Village, Huimin Street, Banan District, is hidden among the mountains and rivers. The large and small fish ponds in the village are sparkling in the breeze, and fish come out of the water from time to time.

“Fish farming is a technical job.” Early in the morning, farmer technician Ni Chuang was busy at the Chongqing Wanglian Freshwater Fish Farm. While feeding the fish, he carefully observed the condition of the fish. In 2009, Ni Chuang set up a fish fry breeding base and gradually became a well-known fish farming expert with his excellent skills. With the support of relevant departments, Ni Chuang provides regular technical training to villagers every year, and often goes to other farms to provide technical guidance.

In 2022, using new technologies and resources, Ni Chuang built a smart seedling factory covering an area of 600 square meters. “The smart factory can automatically monitor water temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH value, etc., so that the fry will grow better and healthier. Not only will the hatching time be advanced, but the price will be higher and the sales volume will be better.” Ni Chuang said, “In January this year , our fry unit price is much higher than the market average price, which is due to the use of new technologies.

Under the leadership of Ni Chuang, more than 100 households in the village started smart breeding. A few years ago, Ni Chuang encouraged villager Zhang Laoyao to raise crucian carp, provided him with free fry and taught him fish farming techniques. After four years, Zhang Laolu not only paid back all the previous debts, but also purchased a lot of new equipment, increasing his income and becoming rich.

Nowadays, the fish farming industry in the village is becoming more and more prosperous, and a professional fishery cooperative has been organized and established. The cooperative not only provides free technical guidance to members, but also provides members with fish fry at cost price. The village's annual fishing income reaches more than 26 million yuan. “My wish is for my fellow villagers to raise fish scientifically, use new technologies, and get rich,” Ni Chuang said.
