A little patience and some faith in local bureaucracy paid off…

We don't always get along with our neighbours, in which case discord can arise between people on the same street.

A woman has explained how she decided to take revenge on her neighbors and their numerous cars, resulting in them losing thousands of dollars.

She told how her neighbors insisted on parking nine cars outside her house, even though they had their own driveway.

“My neighbor has a total of nine cars parked on the street,” she wrote on Reddit.

“They always park two cars in front of my house and don't move them all week. There are rules where we live that you can't park your car in the same spot for more than 48 hours.”

What is their reason for not using their own lane? It “looks tacky.”

The woman continued: “They told me they don’t like having cars out of their driveways because it looks tacky. More than half of the cars they own aren’t even used. They just use them to protect their parking spaces. “

Eventually, the woman lost patience with her selfish neighbor and decided it was time to get her own.

When she discovered construction was going on on a second unit behind their home, she jumped at the opportunity.

The woman submitted a report to the council about a possible “unauthorized illegal residential building” on the property.

Eventually, more than a year later, she was rewarded when she noticed her neighbors “tearing down their second unit.”

She said: “Word got around our neighborhood and a city inspector was there to make sure everything was demolished. Based on the materials and labor they put into the second unit, it cost them over $100,000 (£90,000) ).”

Some people on Reddit offered up some alternative methods that she or anyone else annoyed by selfish parking could use to get their revenge slightly faster.

One person suggested that they should “accidentally scatter bird seeds around parked cars every day” so that the cars would be covered in bird droppings, while another added that bird droppings are “acidic and will eat away at the paint!”

Someone else said: “You need to shade their cars. Plant a few mulberry trees close to the roadside where permitted.”

“They grow very quickly and the berries make a mess, not to mention the birds that stop to eat the berries.”
