“No one needs to worry about anything.”

Jurgen Klopp looked understandably tired at Old Trafford on Sunday as he watched his side lose the lead twice before being knocked out of the FA Cup.

At halftime, Liverpool reversed from a 0-1 deficit to lead 2-1, but was equalized by Anthony in the 81st minute. Liverpool dominated the second half before the Brazilian found the corner but failed to find the killer goal. Klopp's side took the lead again in overtime, but Marcus Rashford and Amad Diallo conceded goals and lost 4-3.

Klopp got into a heated argument with a Norwegian journalist after United reached the semi-finals, accusing him of asking “a stupid question” and eventually stormed off. In a press conference with reporters on the scene, the Germans shed more light on some probing questions.

One reporter asked: “Jurgen, faced with a game like this – the emotion, the intensity, the drain – is that why you left[Liverpool at the end of the season]? Or is it holding you back?” Is that also part of the addiction of being a manager?”

“Yeah, I really don't know,” Klopp replied. “No, it has nothing to do with that. If you saw me watching a football game for my favorite team, I’d be excited too. You don’t have to be in the dugout to have it.

“I didn't think about that (when I made the decision). It's something else. The fact is, we can discuss my situation any time we want, but honestly, I just can't change my answer. No, with that It’s irrelevant.”

The question of whether these intense, gripping moments of football can be exhausting is a valid one. To be fair to Klopp, he has given the issue full respect and consideration.

“Look, when you win, it (the sideline) is a great place to watch the game. When you lose, it's almost the worst. You're standing there. So, that's the way it is, it's all good and I've been doing it a lot Encountered this situation.

“I don't know how many games I've played as a head coach, but I've been through it a lot. It's all good. It has nothing to do with it.

“If we win a game, I want to stay as head coach. If we lose a game, I don't want to stay as coach. If the atmosphere is good, I want to be the manager. If the atmosphere is bad, I want to leave.

“It's a general decision about something, it has nothing to do with these little moments or anything. I'm really sorry if I can't explain it properly enough. Maybe I have to say it in German and you all can translate it. I don’t know if this translation would be better!

“Nobody has to worry about anything. Nothing. I don't have to say: 'Oh my gosh, this is great. I absolutely love everything I do.''. But I need to be at my best to do that. If I feel like I'm not there, then I'm not right…then I'm not the manager that I have to be. This is the whole story.

“Not only do you get worse, you get worse immediately, but you're in the wrong place. That's…if you can see that early on, you can make a decision early on. That's what I did.”

After the international break, Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool will next face Brighton and Sheffield United at home in the Premier League.

Liverpool will then return to Old Trafford for a major league game on April 7.
