“Every time I see Ben Stiller I ask him about it”

Jack Black has revealed what he thinks the Tropic Thunder sequel should be titled, saying he mentions it “every time” he sees Ben Stiller.

Black and Stiller starred side by side in the 2008 satirical action comedy, playing actors filming a war movie in a tropical jungle.

Tropic Thunder was an undeniable critical and commercial success. In addition to grossing more than $195 million at the global box office, the film also received high praise from critics, with Robert Downey Jr. winning for his performance as Kirk Lazarus. Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor.

In the years since its release, fans have been clamoring for a sequel — and it seems some actors are keen, too.

Jack Black, who plays Jeff Portnoy in the film, said in an interview with Joy that “every time I see Ben Stiller,” he mentions the sequel to Tropic Thunder, and he definitely You know what to call it.

You can watch him discuss the Tropic Thunder sequel and its title below.

“Every time I see Ben Stiller, I say 'Come on man: Arctic Lightning!'” Black said.

“It's a sequel to Tropic Thunder and you go in the opposite direction.”

Black isn't the only former cast member to express enthusiasm for another Tropic Thunder project.

Tom Cruise, who plays Les Grossman, is apparently keen to return to his character in some form, possibly in a new movie or spin-off.

Black said he has fond memories of filming the original movie, but it was a tough job because they had to fly to the Hawaiian tropics for basic training.

“It's a fun movie, but it's difficult,” he said.

“You know, we did go there for basic training, we went to the heart of Hawaii, the jungle, the dark jungle deep in Hawaii.

“But my God, if you can get that group of people together again, so be it.”

However, the film caused considerable controversy upon its release, particularly regarding its use of disabled people, the use of ableist slurs, and Downey Jr.'s appearance in blackface in the film.

Black has no doubt the sequel would be canceled today, but it “will be worth it.”

He concluded: “It's going to be cancelled, but it's worth it. That's what it is, it's so funny!”
