The video is one of the most iconic in modern music history.
The star of Eminem's “Stan” music video has admitted that Macaulay Culkin was the original choice to play the title role.
Devon Sawa, known for his roles in “Casper” and “Dead Man,” recalls the infamous 2000 music video.
“They went to Macaulay Culkin first,” the 43-year-old told People. “I think they wanted him but he wasn't available or didn't want to do it or whatever.”
The Dr. Dre-directed video centers on Stan, an avid Eminem fan who has written dozens of letters to the rapper and claims to be Eminem's biggest fan.
However, after seemingly being ignored, Stan kidnaps his girlfriend (played by the song's Dido) and drives off a bridge while recording her last message on a tape recorder.
The song and its video became a hit, and the word “stan” has since entered the modern lexicon as another name for an ardent fan of something.
Zee also revealed that Dr. Dre hired him to play Stan because he “had just seen 'Dead Man' and was a 'Dead Man' fan.”

While Ze has appeared in many movies and TV shows throughout his long career, the former child star ranks “Stan” as “one of the proudest things I've ever been a part of.”
Ze also delves into his experience on set, where he was tasked with lip-syncing Eminem's lines in front of the camera.
“I’ll never forget the day they told me I was going to lip-sync,” he said.
“I remember, after my first take, Dre came over and said, ‘This is good, but can you try a beat this time?’ I was like, ‘Oh my God. “The day passed like this.”
He continued: “Dr. Dre was there, D12 was there, and I think Snoop was hanging out around Cypress Hill. It was a crazy, awesome three days of filmmaking.”
Last month, Eminem took to Twitter/X to call on “Stan” to help him make a documentary about his life.
The post also included a link to a website titled “Stans Film” and a questionnaire.
