Romero quickly deleted the tweet
Cristian Romero, perhaps fearful of facing punishment, quickly deleted a tweet he posted shortly after Tottenham's derby day defeat to Arsenal.
The Gunners secured another 3-2 victory to continue leading the league by one point.
Pierre-Emile Hojberg's own goal opened the game before goals from Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz put the visitors in control.
Spurs fought back in the second half and found their way back into the game after a poor clearance from David Raya, who found the feet of Romero. The Argentine showed the composure of a striker who has scored 20 goals a season to make it 1-3.
Son Heung-min took a penalty kick to make the game more interesting, but the home team failed to equalize in the end.
Romero deletes tweet
Spurs thought they had equalized earlier in the game when Mickey van de Veen's powerful pass past Raya was ruled out for offside.
Romero was furious at the decision, posting on X after the game that West Ham had a similar goalbox during their 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur earlier this season.
On that occasion, shots from Romero and another Tottenham defender were deflected and Jared Bowen fired home.
He replied to a post saying: “West Ham scored the same goal against us at home” before quickly deleting the tweet as he may have realized he was keeping Bowen on the pitch players.
Angie Postkoglu's side now face a real tough task in finishing in the top four as they remain seven points behind Aston Villa but have two games in hand, against Chelsea and Manchester City.
They also have to face Liverpool and even if they don't secure a Champions League spot, they could have a huge say in the title race if they beat the Reds and Manchester City.
