This is the second time in 14 months that the price of a British passport has increased.
The price of British passports will rise again from Thursday, just fourteen months after the last increase, the Home Office has announced.
The cost of ordering a new passport will rise by more than 7% tomorrow.
In January 2023, the cost of this document increased by 9%.
The fee changes will apply to people ordering new passports and renewing existing passports.
A statement from the Home Office said: “The new fees will help ensure that revenue from these applications better meets the costs of delivering passports and related operations, reducing reliance on general tax funding. The government will not receive income from passport application fees. any profit.
“These fees increase the cost of processing passport applications, the cost of consular support overseas (including if a passport is lost or stolen), and the cost of processing British citizens at UK borders,” it continued.
“The increased amount will also help the government continue to improve its services.”
So what are the actual changes? How it will affect different publics.
Firstly, the standard online application for adults made within the UK will rise from £75.50 to £88.50.
For children, the price of a standard passport will rise from the current £53.50 to £57.50.
Your standard postal application will increase to £100 for adults and £69 for children.
If you live abroad and apply overseas, the price for a standard online application will rise to £101.00 for adults and £65.50 for children.
Paper applications cost £112.50 for adults and £77.00 for children.
If you're wondering when your subscription needs to be renewed, there are several answers. You must renew your passport if it has expired, if it was issued more than 10 years ago (if you are traveling to a country with a 10-year rule) or if your passport does not have enough time before it expires.
Renewing a passport in the UK can take up to three weeks, but may take longer during periods of high demand, such as before the school holidays.
