Tottenham face Nottingham Forest tonight
Tottenham Hotspur have released a statement after a man was stabbed to death outside the stadium.
Police and paramedics were called to Northumberland Park outside Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The Metropolitan Police said they found a man suffering from multiple stab wounds. Emergency services performed CPR but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Spurs are due to face Nottingham Forest at home on Sunday evening and have released a statement regarding the stabbing.
The club said: “Following an incident where a person has lost his life, it is vital that we are doing everything we can to co-operate with the ongoing police investigation.
“As things stand, this afternoon’s Premier League match against Nottingham Forest will go ahead as scheduled, but the northern end of Worcester Avenue and the whole of Northumberland Parkway will remain closed.
“We will keep supporters updated as best we can and ask fans to remain patient and allow extra travel time.”
The Met has launched a murder investigation and is working to notify his next of kin.
No arrests have been made at this stage.
