The Hollywood star isn't prepared to let major highway closures get in the way of filming.
Tom Cruise reportedly created his own 'M25 diversion' to ensure his cast and crew could reach filming locations for his new film Mission impossible Movie.
The Oscar-winning actor is filming his eighth installment Mission impossible Filming will take place on the M25 this weekend near a section of road that is due to be closed.
Britain's busiest road was closed between junction 10 (A3 Wisley) and junction 11 (A320 Chertsey Interchange) in Surrey on Friday evening and will remain closed until 6am on Monday.
Traffic jams were reported for five miles on the motorway, with some drivers warning they could face delays of up to five hours on their journeys.
But, that Top Gun Star is putting his aviation experience to good use and is said to have a helicopter on standby to help avert an expected “disaster”.
Actors including Simon Pegg, Hayley Atwell, Rebecca Ferguson and Hannah Waddingham will reportedly be filming on set this weekend and are all expected to be picked up by Cruise and his helicopter Go to Work.
The 61-year-old was apparently using a helipad in Battersea, south-west London, to lead his team to the filming location at Longcross Studios in Surrey.
A source revealed sun: “The closure of the M25 would be a headache for most people, but not for Tom. He is so keen to retain Mission impossible 8 During production, he had a helicopter on standby in London to fly his crew to Longcross.
“This may sound excessive, but delaying the production of the film is a bigger issue and Tom is such a professional – he will do whatever it takes to keep the show going.”
Production on the eighth installment in the series has already experienced lengthy delays and disruptions due to the coronavirus pandemic and last year's Hollywood actors' strike, leading to the original 2024 release date being pushed back.
Simon Pegg recently announced in an emotional social media post that this would be his last involvement in the franchise.
This weekend marks the first time in its history that the motorway will be closed during the day for roadworks, with around 6,000 cars an hour being diverted off the M25 onto local A-roads.
talking London Broadcasting Corporation News Earlier this week, the head of the state's highways program advised commuters to “find something to do at home” rather than traveling this weekend before scheduled work hours.
“If you can avoid traveling altogether, find something to do at home – decorate the bathroom or something like that, or play in the garden,” he said.
“If you have to go, take the train, walk, bike. I really don't mind what you do.
“It will be in your interest to avoid driving on the diversions around Painshill, Byfleet, West Byfleet on the east side of Woking.”
The highly anticipated eight Mission impossible The film, which recently abandoned its original title Mission Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 2currently being considered for release in May 2025.
New cast members include parks and recreation Stars Nick Offerman and Ted RussoIt's Hannah Waddingham.
Mark Gatiss, Charles Parnell and Janet McTeer have also recently joined the project.
