People's Daily Online, Beijing, May 10 (Reporter Song Zijie) China's human rights development path is rooted in China's five thousand years of civilization and is richly nourished by China's excellent traditional culture. Recently, the international academic symposium “The Concept of Human Rights in Chinese Classics” is calling for papers.

The reporter learned that the paper solicitation event has received a number of papers submitted by domestic scholars, and overseas scholars from Portugal, the United States and other countries have also written letters expressing their willingness to participate.

This seminar is soliciting papers from experts and scholars in the fields of humanities and social sciences such as literature, history, philosophy, and human rights law from colleges and universities, scientific research institutions, and cultural units at home and abroad. There is no limit to the subject area of the essay, including literature, history, philosophy and society; the content can be based on the classics selected from “One Hundred Classics of Traditional Chinese Culture”, and materials can be excavated from ancient classics such as the Classics and History Collection to study issues related to human rights. The deadline for submission of papers is August 1, 2024.

This activity aims to further activate the human rights ideas, strategies, systems and historical experiences in ancient classics, promote exchanges and mutual learning between Chinese civilization and other civilizations in the world, and contribute Chinese wisdom and Chinese solutions to the development of the common human rights cause of mankind.

The conference was co-sponsored by the China Society for Human Rights Studies, the Propaganda Department of the Hunan Provincial Party Committee, and Hunan University, and hosted by the Yuelu Academy of Hunan University and the Law School of Hunan University.
