It's been described as a “perfect pint”

A Manchester pub has been named the best place outside of Ireland to enjoy a pint of Guinness.

Mulligans Pub is located in the Spinningfields area of Manchester city centre, and this title was awarded by a man known as the Guinness Master.

Describing pints at his pub as “consistent”, Mulligans owner Pádraig Brady said pint lovers from across the UK traveled to Mulligans to sample his “perfectly poured” stout.

The Dublin-born publican added that people come from as far away as Dublin and London to sample Guinness at his pub.

When asked by the Manchester Evening News what the secret to pouring the perfect pint of black wine was, Brady said it didn't just come down to one factor.

“There are five or six things you have to do in order to be consistent.

“We're also lucky to have a great team of staff led by Peter and Matt, who understand very well that you can lose your reputation on a bad pint.”

The publican praised the consistency of the pints on offer at his shop, adding: “Not only are our pints great 99 per cent of the time, they're great 101 per cent of the time. Good wine. And it has to be consistent from keg to customer.”

Noting the importance of the glass itself to the quality of the pint, Brady said, “We're not reinventing the wheel. But I do serve my pints in tulip glasses, and I brought them over from Ireland. It's also about cleanliness.” Glass and clean lines.”

Despite being located in the heart of Manchester, Mulligans still has a distinctly Irish feel, with the pub's exterior decorated in a style not too dissimilar to that of Dublin's famous Temple Bar.

Additionally, GAA flags, jerseys and memorabilia hanging throughout the pub add to the authenticity of the Guinness drinking experience.

Brady summed up Mulligan's success by saying, “It's not rocket science what we do. If you provide good Guinness, good service and good music, it creates a great atmosphere.” Great atmosphere!”
