my name is michael caine
Sir Michael Caine is one of Britain's most legendary voice-over artists, actors and gentlemen, having appeared in over 160 films.
In a career spanning more than 70 years, Kane has starred in classics such as “Zulu”, “Italian Job” and “Alfie”.
Now, while promoting his latest film “The Great Escape,” which tells the story of World War II veteran Bernard Bernie Jordan, Caine is opening up about his life and awareness of his own mortality. .
Kane, 91, has suffered health problems in recent years and last year told The Daily Telegraph his death could be “imminent”.
He said: “The worst thing is that a lot of things disappear from your life. You can't run around, you can't play football, and you gradually realize that you are approaching death. At 90 years old (death) may be around the corner.
“But I'm happy. I'm sitting here writing, doing my thing. I love it. I have two kids, three grandsons and a wife… and everyone will eventually join me.
“No one is going to say, 'I'm sorry you're dying – I wish you were like me and not dying'.”
Kane added: “Everybody dies. At least I made it to f*cking 90; I didn't die at 9 or 19 or 29. I'm 90 and I've lived the best life I could think of. Best life ever.”
While filming The Great Escape, Caine explained that he found it difficult to move as freely as before: “They gave me a really good cane and I was able to shoot the scenes that required it.
“I'll only do it once and then I fall. But one take and that's it. Forget about it.”
He concluded: “I’m 90 now and I can’t walk properly or anything like that.
“I'm almost retired now. Anyway…”
