“Okay, Debbie. Where do I start?”
A restaurant has hit back in stunning fashion after a customer complained publicly about being charged £8 for fish and chips.

“Lovely food and staff were great but I don’t understand how you justify your prices, fish and chips are over £8 and very small?”

The restaurant wrote: “Okay Debbie. Where do I start? On that £8 our hateful government charges you 20% VAT which we collect by law on their behalf so we're just left with £6.66.
“So we needed to buy fresh ingredients; 1 haddock fillet and ask the chef to make it from scratch; delicious beer batter, homemade tartar sauce, mushy peas and chunky chips (total ingredient cost for this dish was approx. £2.70). This left us with £3.94, too bad our annoying chef expected to be paid! Then we realized that “lovely” food doesn't come to you so we have to pay for “great” work! Personnel to serve you and clean up after you?
“Pay the utility bills (we need gas to cook and you need lights to see the food) and don’t get me started on business rates. So if £3.94 isn’t enough to create and deliver the whole experience with us, you’re welcome to comfy I suspect it will be a long time before the government can re-create it.”
After the post was posted, it received hundreds of likes. Some people said: “This kind of profit-making principle is disgusting. If you have a heart, you should do this for free. Don't you feel like paying you Is it a joyful experience to have an accountant to calculate VAT?”
