Quentin Tarantino has revealed that despite a hugely successful career as a director, he never gave his mother any money or financial help despite a promise he made to himself as a child.

When talking about a certain episode at this moment podcast host and Billions Co-creator and director Brian Koppelman recalls that once, when he was having trouble writing a script at school, his mother took the teacher's side.

After getting into trouble, he said his mom “bitched at me about it…and then in the middle of her tirade, she said, 'Oh, by the way, this little 'writing career,'' finger quotes and all.” This little ‘writing career’ you’re doing? It’s all over.”
Tarantino added: “When she said that to me in that sarcastic way, I said, 'Well, ma'am, when I become a successful writer, you'll never get the benefit of the doubt from me. See a penny in success. There won't be a house for you. You won't get a vacation, and your mom won't get an Elvis Cadillac. You won't get anything. Because you said so.”
He was then asked if this was a promise he had kept for many years. The 61-year-old admitted that on one occasion he supported his mother financially.
“Yeah. I helped her out of trouble with the IRS,” he said.
“But no house. No Cadillac, no house.”
He added: “When you're dealing with children, your words have consequences. Remember, your sarcastic tone about things that are meaningful to them has consequences.”
