Sheffield United were given a Premier League lifeline but the post has since been deleted.
The Blades suffered a 5-1 defeat at Newcastle United on Saturday and were relegated to the Championship.
Chris Wilder's side currently have 16 points and have conceded close to 100 goals in the league, currently sitting on 97 points.
Is there little hope of staying up late?
The Premier League tweeted the news after the relegation was confirmed, but also added an extra detail to give some fans some hope.
“Following their defeat to Newcastle, Sheffield United will be relegated pending appeals from Everton and Nottingham Forest for point deductions,” the statement read.
The post was quickly deleted.
Everton and Forest were both docked points for breaching the league's profit and sustainability rules.
Forest were docked four points, just one place above the relegation zone, while the Toffees were initially docked 10 points but this was reduced to six following an appeal.
They were then deducted a further two points for the second charge.
Both men may have their deductions canceled pending the outcome of the appeal.
This is unlikely to affect Sheffield United, who are currently 20 points behind Everton and 10 behind Forest.
