Asked if she felt sorry for young people trying to get on the housing ladder, she replied: “I'm very sad because they don't have a chance, don't they? They have no hope. Where are they going to find £30,000 for a deposit? The rent is very high so I don't think it's fair to them.
The pensioner dismissed the “stop buying avocado toast” argument, continuing: “Go find those young people with single parents. They don't have avocado on their toast. If they could get a piece of toast, they Might get lucky. Never mind the avocado. So that's garbage.”
When asked if she had any advice for people looking to buy, she responded: “I can't give them any advice.”
She broke down the near-impossible situation some people find themselves in, saying: “What do you say to them? Go get a job? There are no jobs. Go get a higher wage? They don't pay a higher wage.”
“You go to college, you graduate from college, they (graduates) all expect high-paying jobs, but they're not there. And the few that are out there, they're all snatched up by the elite of the elite.”
