He also killed two guinea pigs
A nine-year-old boy who strangled nine rabbits will not face criminal charges.
The boy was left with the animals after killing a rabbit at the Rekerhout petting zoo in Alkmaar, the Netherlands, on March 11.
Although the child's behavior caused outrage, he will not face criminal charges. This is because he is not yet 12 years old, but he will be in a care program.
Psychiatrist Esther van Fenema said of the incident: “I feel sad for the animals and I feel sad for the little boy, who obviously felt terrible that he had to do this Do.”
She added: “If you kill an animal at home; explain to your child why. Even if it's an insect. That way he or she will know not to snap a guinea pig's neck because snapping a guinea pig's neck is harmful.”
According to the Mirror, the child had previously visited the petting zoo in the company of a supervisor, but this time he went alone.
He is said to have “showed no emotion” while murdering the animals.
“It makes you completely sick,” zoo manager Ali Dorenbos told local media via Metro.
She added that larger animals had suffered abuse in zoos.
“Sheep were shot with bows and arrows, their udders were pulled, goats were shaken by their horns,” Dorenbos added.
