It will show behind-the-scenes footage from that famous season
The story behind Manchester City's treble-winning season is about to be shown on Netflix.
The streaming service giant paid a seven-figure salary to document the behind-the-scenes stories of the historic campaign, the Daily Mail can reveal.
Netflix is expected to air six episodes this year that culminated in Pep Guardiola's side winning the Champions League for the first time, with a trailer rumored to be released this week.
Netflix unveils new sports story with 'Manchester City'
Over the years, Netflix has started to become a well-known name for some of the best sports documentary series.
Drive to Survive, The Last Dance, Break Point and Full Swing are just a few of the best non-football shows, while Sunderland 'Til I Die is the site's most popular one.
They have mainly focused on individuals such as David Beckham and Luis Figo, but the six-part story airing on Netflix will be the first time they have aired a fly-on-the-wall style special for a Premier League club.
Back in 2017-18, Manchester City were featured on Amazon Prime Video's “All or Nothing” series as they won the Premier League in emphatic fashion and reached the 100-point mark on the final day of the season.
They have also filmed two special documentaries in 2021 and 2022 via the club's own social channels.
When will it be released?
Although it has not been officially confirmed, multiple reports indicate that the documentary series will be released on Netflix on April 2, titled: “Together: Tr3ble Winners”.
