finally come

One of Netflix's most anticipated shows of the year is finally coming to the streaming service.

Scoop, which tells the story behind Prince Andrew's infamous BBC interview with Emily Maitlis, will be withdrawn from shelves today (April 5).

Prince Andrew has come under scrutiny for his friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and the allegations surrounding that part of his life. He was accused of sexual abuse by Virginia Giuffre and settled her case against him in 2022 for more than £12 million.

Back in 2019, the 64-year-old gave an interview to Newsnight to discuss his relationship with Epstein, who died at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York just months before the interview.

The interview received a lot of attention but also negative reactions from the public and media. While the original interview is no longer available to watch on BBC iPlayer, it can be viewed on BBC News' YouTube channel.

Netflix's adaptation of the story surrounding the interview has been one of the service's most anticipated shows of the year, and now it's finally here.

“Inspired by true events, this fictional drama tells an inside look at how the women of Newsnight secured Prince Andrew's infamous interview,” the official synopsis reads.

The show, which stars Rufus Sewell as Andrew and Gillian Anderson as Maitlis, was an instant hit when its trailer was released last month.

“Watching this in a pizza joint in Woking is a moment I will always remember,” one person joked in the comments section of the clip.

The second put: “
This looks very good. I would watch any transformation by Gillian and Rufus Sewell. “

“Whoever chose this cast deserves a BAFTA themselves. Be inspired,” commented another.

The rest of the cast includes Billie Piper, Keeley Hawes and Richard Goulding.
