The streaming service has released a working title and hinted it could launch next year.
Netflix has revealed details about a new family drama centered on Ireland's Guinness family.
The show's screenwriter is Peaky Blinders Creator Steven Knight will direct Tom Shankland (house of cards) and Muniya Aker (boiling point).
Specifically, the narrative will focus on the aftermath of the death of Benjamin Guinness, the man believed to be responsible for the success of the Guinness Brewery.
Set in 19th century Dublin and New York, it tells the story of Benjamin's innovation and bravery, and the impact this had on the lives of his four adult children; Arthur, Edward, Anne and Ben.
Fans will be excited to see the humble beginnings of one of the world's most popular and famous drinks and get a glimpse of what Dublin was like at the turn of the 20th century.
Following its success, Steven Knight's involvement in the project is sure to create high hopes and expectations. Peaky Blinders and its impact on pop culture.
Karen Wilson, showrunner of the upcoming series, praised Knight’s addition and expressed excitement about the story and adaptation: “The House of Guinness is filled with mystery, intrigue and drama, and we couldn’t be more excited able to bring it to a global Netflix audience.
“This epic, compelling story about one of the world’s greatest dynasties will captivate audiences, and I can’t think of anyone better to bring this story to life than the talented Steven Knight.“
The British writer-producer said in a press release: “The Guinness dynasty is famous around the world – the interweaving of wealth, poverty, power, influence and monumental tragedy creates a rich canvas from which to draw. . I have always been fascinated by their stories and am excited to bring these characters to life for the world.”
There are no casting announcements for the upcoming series yet, but we'll likely hear more in the coming months.
Netflix has confirmed that eight one-hour episodes will be produced, with filming expected to begin later this year.
The streaming company also made several other announcements about upcoming projects today.
The high-profile documentary on Jose Mourinho, which was largely filmed during his time as Manchester United manager, will air in 2025.
They also announced another one-shot wonder is coming boiling point Creators Jack Thorne and Philippe Ballantini.
The project, produced by Brad Pitt's Plan B, Matriarch Productions, is described as an ambitious real-time crime drama.
Stephen Graham may reprise his role, although this has not yet been confirmed puberty is the current working title.
