Almost a third of Britons do this on the first day of every month.
The majority of Brits believe May is the “best month” to end a relationship, according to a new report, with nearly a third of respondents admitting planning to break up with their partner on the first day of May.
The survey, which included 2,000 Brits and was commissioned by Sky Mobile, revealed that 63% of the British public believe May is the best month of the year to be single, with 30% hoping to end their singlehood as soon as possible. Abandoned the other half on May Day.

The report also concluded that seven in 10 Brits (73%) say spring is the best season to start a new life before summer, while just over half of Britons (56%) admit to being willing to end a relationship via text message relationships, citing avoidance of confrontation (46%) as the top reason for delaying breakups.
Providing some balance to the argument, 68% of Brits do say they would stay in a relationship even if they were unhappy to avoid a breakup, with one in five (20%) admitting they were stuck. An unhappy relationship for over a year.
Just under three-quarters (72%) admit they would be hesitant to confront their partner and have a conversation, with 77% admitting they would be more likely to talk to someone over text if they didn't feel guilty. People break up.
Another aspect of the survey revealed what the top 20 things in life are for which Britons are slow to make progress.
Topping the list was “toxic friends” with 37% of the vote, followed by old photos and memorabilia (27%) and inappropriate partners (26%).
Also on the list are homes that have outgrown their home (13%), childhood teddy bears (12%) and auto-renewing subscriptions you don’t use (11%).
Sky Mobile has also announced reality TV star Pete Wicks as the brand's “breakup consultant” as part of a new campaign to encourage mobile users to switch to its network.
In a new advert featuring Wicks, the former TOWIE actor says: “Don't worry y'all, I'm just breaking mobile network hearts this summer.
