Another day, another disappointment for Manchester United

Manchester United have been told to hold a team meeting without Erik ten Hag to find out why their season has been so disappointing.

United thought they had won the game when Mason Mount scored against Brentford in the 97th minute, only for them to concede straight away from kick-off and lose two points.

The Red Devils were lucky to pick up a point, let alone potentially three points, as Brentford dominated the game. The Bees had 86 touches of the ball in the United penalty area and 34 shots on goal.

Ten Hag's side are now 11 points adrift of a Champions League final place and in danger of the season fading out again, with Dion Dublin urging the squad to meet and sort things out without Ten Hag.

“I don't know what that is. It has to come from within. I don't think it comes from the manager, I don't think it comes from the coaching staff. It comes from the players,” he told Sky Sports.

“It depends on the players in the dressing room. If it happens, we hate to do it, but in the dressing room where I played, the players would be angry with each other and we would have to say 'OK, Monday morning the team has a meeting' .

“No coaches, no staff, no players. Then you point fingers. You tell people. Bryan Robson would do it, he would say 'not good enough, not good enough, not good enough'. It's not done yet It's over. The players have to take responsibility and they didn't.”

“We don't deserve to win”

While Ten Hag remains optimistic his side can qualify for the Champions League, the Dutchman admitted they did not deserve the win in west London.

He told Match of the Day: “We won in the end, maybe it wasn't deserved, but you have to get three points, so the draw was very disappointing.

“Brentford were better than us today. They showed more passion, desire and determination than we did. The quality of this team is that they fight for it but we have to show more. We scored , but then kicked the ball out of the baseline.

“Brentford were more focused and more aggressive but it should be the opposite.

“We won and we should give the team credit for that, but then we gave up and it was very disappointing. There were a lot of games to play. Let's look at that. Ultimately it was probably a very good point.”
