A Netflix documentary looking back at Manchester City's treble-winning season has been released today.
TOGETHER: Tuesday morning's treble comes as we take an inside look at how Pep Guardiola's side conquered football and became the first English side since 1999 to win the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League in the same season team.
All six episodes feature team talks, training sessions, interviews and more, giving us access to all areas of the club.
But while we saw never-before-seen footage, two glaring omissions from the docuseries were noted.
Two important points are missing
One of the things currently clouding Manchester City's success is the fact that the club is facing 115 charges from the Premier League. The only acknowledgment of this was a statement from the club and Guardiola's insistence that he had no plans to leave Citizen.
Another key point for the 2022/2023 season is Joao Cancelo.
Cancelo was once a favorite under Pep Guardiola, but he lost his place in the team and ended up spending the second half of the season on loan at Bayern Munich after seeking more game time.
At the time, both men played down reports of a falling out, but in a recent interview, Cancelo made scathing comments about his former boss.
He said in an interview with Abola: “Lies were told!
“I've never been a bad teammate for them, you can ask (Nathan) Ake or Rico (Lewis). I don't have any superiority or inferiority complex against them, but that's the manager's view. “
Cancelo didn't just criticize his former boss, as he also slammed City as “ungrateful”.
“I think it’s a bit ungrateful of Manchester City to say that because I was a very important player during my years there.
“I never failed in my commitment to the club and to the fans, I always gave everything.”
