A man was arrested by armed police after bursting through the gates of Buckingham Palace in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Police rushed to the scene after a car plowed into the main entrance of the royal residence in Westminster, central London.
The incident happened shortly after 2:30am yesterday and photos taken by passers-by at the residence this morning showed the iconic wrought iron gate had been boarded up and in need of repairs.

Video that appeared on social media hours after the incident but was later deleted showed armed police surrounding the kneeling driver and ordering him to “put your hands on your head.”
The Met said there were no reports of any injuries. A police spokesman said: “At around 2.33am on Saturday, March 9, a car collided with the gates of Buckingham Palace.
“Armed police arrested a man at the scene on suspicion of criminal damage. He was taken to hospital.
“No injuries were reported. Investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances.”
