It was an awkward moment for the pop icon.
Madonna received a lot of criticism online after a fan sat down during a show in Los Angeles without realizing the person was in a wheelchair.
The awkward moment was captured on camera by another concert attendee and has been shared on Twitter multiple times since Friday night's show.
In the video, Madonna points to the fan and shouts: “What are you doing sitting there? What are you doing sitting there?”
The crowd fell silent at the exchange, and the 65-year-old performer moved closer to the edge of the stage to get a better look at the fans she was referring to.
Apparently, while sitting in her wheelchair, she said, “Oh, well, politically incorrect, sorry about that. I'm glad you're here.”
People soon started laughing like a prayer The singer is so quick to judge the audience that she's better off just focusing on her own performance rather than what's going on in the crowd.
One X user wrote: “But is it offensive to sit down during the show? Like, what if I get tired?”
Another netizen pointed out that Madonna is known for being late to her shows: “She has an old fan base. They've had a long day before this. You know she starts late.”
Another netizen commented: “Well, you shouldn't ask people to sit down anyway. She is not the Queen of England. Some people are tired or have conditions and need to sit down. Do you want them all to leave?”
Others defended the star, stressing that when she realized her mistake she immediately apologized and moved on: “She admitted she was wrong and apologized,” they said.
“Why is she weird? She wants her fans to stand up and enjoy the show during this particular show. Stop trying to embarrass Madonna.
“Isn't it tiring to always try to find something?”
Another wrote: “Can you please just leave her alone?!” We all know she is the greatest artist of our generation – a visionary. “
this Fashion The trendsetter is currently on her Celebration tripkicking off in London on Saturday, October 14, with the final set of dates currently wrapping up in Los Angeles.
This isn't the first time Madonna has made headlines this year for disagreements with fans. In January, she was sued by two fans for allegedly starting a concert more than two hours later than scheduled.
The plaintiffs are outraged by Madonna's decision not to take the stage at Brooklyn's Barclays Center until 22:45 on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 – two and a quarter hours later than the scheduled start time of 20:30.
