An old refrain from Jose Mourinho towards Jamie Carragher has resurfaced following his controversial comments on Wednesday night.
Carragher made what he initially thought was a tongue-in-cheek joke to presenter Kate Abdo on CBS' Champions League cover last night.
The former Liverpool defender said of the Arsenal shirt: “The next part you're going to wear (the Arsenal shirt) and the last part you're going to wear it.”
Abdo replied: “I'm not, I'm loyal.” Carragher then joked: “To whom?”
Abdo replied: “Manchester United, thank you very much.”
Carragher really stepped in when he said: “Not to Malik”.
He then started laughing at his own joke, while Thierry Henry and Micah Richards fell into stunned silence, before Abdo responded: “Why did you say that?”
Mourinho's famous sayings
Following his comments, old footage of Mourinho from 2015 resurfaced, with the then Chelsea boss claiming the former England international “talks too much”.
“Jamie Carragher says a lot for a guy who's not even in the top 1,000 defenders in football history,” he said. “How can someone who has never won a Premier League talk about winning a Premier League title.”
CBS faces calls to sack Carragher
Those watching the game called for Carragher to be sacked for his comments.
“That Carragher 'joke' scares me so much,” one user wrote.
“Henry realizes Carragher's career is over just because of the ban,” added a second.
“Jamie Carragher just said on live TV that Kate was unfaithful to her fiancé,” exclaimed a third.
