'What are you doing? '
Jeff Sterling has slammed Ben White's decision to go on holiday during the international break.
Many were surprised that White was left out of Gareth Southgate's squad for friendlies against Brazil and Belgium, but the England boss revealed Arsenal sporting director Edu had called him to tell him he Fullbacks cannot be selected.
Reports suggested that a row between White and Southgate's assistant Steve Holland was the reason the defender did not want to play for his country.
“For me it's a huge shame,” Southgate said. “He was a player we took to the Euros and a player we took to the World Cup and I spoke to him after the game in Qatar because I wanted to select him.
“He wasn't with us, there was no problem at all between us and I should also say there was never any problem with (coach) Steve Holland because that was mentioned in the article and I didn't like that.”
Sterling slams Whyte
Since Arsenal did not play during the international break, members of the first team who did not participate in the national team competition were allowed to rest for a period of time.
White, like many of his other teammates, used the time to get away from his wife, Millie Adams.
The 26-year-old's partner shared a photo from their outing, showing them sitting by the pool playing Uno.
This photo alone is enough to drive Sterling crazy.
“He decided he didn't want to play for England against Brazil and Belgium,” Sterling began on TalkSPORT.
“On the surface he was enjoying his time there and while his England team-mates lost 1-0 to Brazil, Ben was enjoying an UNO game and soaking up the sun on the beach in Dubai.
“I have a little sympathy for the card players, but not Ben. What are you doing?”
“What are you doing by posting the fact that you're playing cards in Dubai? You decided not to play for England, that's fine. Your prerogative, let the kids get on with it.”
Sterling later responded to the news in a post on X, where he doubled down on his insistence that it was White who decided not to play for England.
“Ray Ben White. That's taken out of context. It's entirely his prerogative not to play for England and we can do that with him now. Just a gentle suggestion that when England lose to Brazil it's not about him playing Best time to face Uno in Dubai.”
Now I'm sure you all know that White is not a huge fan of football.
Technically, this is wrong. Apparently he does like football because he plays it. What is the concept of watching a football match? Not suitable for him.
In fact, he told the Daily Telegraph earlier this month: “I know people say I don't like football. When I go home, football is not on my mind anymore. I just be a normal person, don't worry. . (But) when I was here, the atmosphere was tense.
“I want to win everything I do. My wife and I play a lot of games at home and I won't let her win. I remember when I was younger I always wanted to win and play aggressive and do my best. Can win.
