James Bond producers have officially offered the iconic spy role to a British actor, with a contract set to be signed this week, according to sources.
The question of who will be the next James Bond has been swirling around the film industry ever since Daniel Craig fell on his sword in No Time to Die.
The likes of Henry Cavill, Idris Elba, Reggie Jean Page, Tom Holland and, most recently, Cillian Murphy have all been linked to the role.
Meanwhile, fans have been calling for Theo James to get a license to kill after his performance in Guy Ritchie's The Gentlemen.
But according to new reports, the search for who the next Bond will be is finally over — and it's none of the above.
Bond bosses are said to have “officially offered” the role after Aaron Taylor-Johnson impressed producers.
The “Kick-Ass” actor has reportedly been optioned to star in the iconic role by film production company Eon Productions, and will take up the role “in the coming days.”
A source told The Sun that this will take place before filming begins on the next film later this year.
They told the publication: “Bond is a job for Aaron if he takes it. Formal offers are on the table and they are awaiting a response.
“As far as Eon is concerned, Aaron will be signing the contract in the next few days and they can start preparing for the big announcement.”
Tyler-Johnson has long been considered one of the frontrunners for the role, having previously acted a bit mysterious when asked about rumors linking him to Bond.
Back in August, Esquire asked him if he had been in talks with producers to become the next James Bond.
In this regard, he said: “I only focus on what I can have in my hands now.
“What's in front of me now.”
In addition to his role in “Kick-Ass,” Taylor-Johnson is also known for starring roles in “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” “Angus, G-Strings, and Perfect Kisses,” “Tenet” and “Bullet Train.” famous for movies.
