“We signed a contract”
Jake Paul announced that he and Mike Tyson had signed a boxing contract in July this year.
The game is scheduled to take place on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, and will be streamed on Netflix.
“We have a contract,” Tyson posted on Instagram.
The fight will be Netflix's first foray into combat sports.
Paul, who first rose to fame as a YouTuber and younger brother of Logan Paul, has spent the past few years focusing on a boxing career.
This included wins over former UFC stars such as Nate Diaz, Anderson Silva and Tyron Woodley before he suffered his first career defeat at the hands of Tommy Fury.
Tyson, meanwhile, is a man who needs no introduction. One of the most fearsome boxers in history, he was the undisputed heavyweight champion from 1987 to 1990.
But he hadn't competed professionally since 2005 and was 58 years old by the time he fought Paul.
He said in a statement: “(Paul) has grown significantly as a boxer over the years, so it's great to see what the will and ambition of a 'kid' can do alongside the experience and ability of a 'kid' It would be fun to do something.” Goat.
“It’s an exciting full-circle moment because I started his boxing journey with Roy Jones and now I plan to finish him.”
Paul's second fight was against former NBA player Nate Robinson in the 2020 Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr. boxing exhibition.
Paul said: “In my second pro fight I went viral for knocking out Nate Robinson on Mike Tyson’s undercard, which is crazy.
“Now, less than four years later, I will face Tyson in person to see if I have what it takes to defeat one of boxing’s most notorious fighters and biggest icons.
In just two and a half years since founding MVP, we're about to host the biggest game in history, a game in the largest NFL stadium in the United States and broadcast live on the largest streaming platform in the world — which It’s a testament to everyone that we accomplished it in such a short period of time. “
