Another big name has been added to the already star-studded cast.
Jack O'Connell is the newest actor in the talent pool 28 years later Cast list.
The British actor will star in the sequel to the 2002 film alongside Jodie Comer, Ralph Fiennes and Aaron Taylor-Johnson 28 days later.
Danny Boyle is returning to direct 22 years after the success of the original, and will develop a script written by Alex Garland, who also wrote the first film.
The 2002 blockbuster centers on a bicycle courier played by Cillian Murphy who awakens from a coma to discover that the world has been overrun by zombies following a viral outbreak.
The film grossed more than $82 million worldwide and spawned a sequel, 28 Weeks Later, in 2007.
The follow-up film, directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, depicts the efforts of NATO forces to establish a safe zone in London and includes a number of new characters.
Sony Pictures has confirmed that “28 Years Later” will be the first of two films, with O'Connell believed to have a supporting role in the first and more of a starring role in the second.

It's been a successful year so far for the Derby-born actor, who stars in ferrari and back to blackBoth films were released earlier this year, and he just signed on to star in a new supernatural thriller directed by Ryan Coogler, opposite Michael B. Jordan (black panther) and is supported by Warner Bros.
While there's no sign that Oscar-winner Murphy will reunite for the upcoming sequel to the trilogy, the addition of Comer, Taylor-Johnson, O'Connell, and Fiennes will be a great addition for fans of the franchise. Brings huge excitement.

In a recent interview with The Independent, Murphy said he was very interested in reuniting with Boyle and Garland. 28 years later.
“I'll be there soon,” he said. “I made two movies with these two guys (28 days later and Sunlight). Suddenly I wanted to work with these people again. “
While the film has yet to reveal a release date, Danny Boyle revealed that the script was written in 2022, so it looks promising to begin production sometime this year or early next year.
