An ad on the company's website outlines only six criteria that applicants need to meet to be considered.
These include:
- College or university degree from an accredited institution.
- Have at least six months of experience in the industry in which they plan to work remotely.
- Work contract and salary of €28,000 (£24,000)
- No specific immigration offenses have been committed within the past five years.
- Proof of residence in Italy
- Health insurance
The plan is Italy's latest move to encourage economic growth amid an aging population.
Anyone interested must apply to the local Italian consulate before arriving in Italy.
The good news is that if you enjoy your time and don’t want to go home, you can renew once you arrive in the country.
Other countries have similar plans, but Italy's offer is probably the most affordable and attractive.
Japan offers an annual subsidy of £50,202 to digital nomads who want to set up shop there, while Spain has a very low minimum monthly salary of just £1,832.
