Manchester United are preparing for summer changes in their playing department.
Reports earlier this week suggested that almost all first-team players would be considered “up for sale” as Sir Jim Ratcliffe looks to raise funds to reshape the squad.
United have spent around £1bn building up their current squad but that has not translated into performance on the pitch as the Red Devils are likely to endure another disappointing season.
As the BBC explains, with them likely to miss out on the Champions League, the club will have to rely on selling players to raise the funds needed.
The value of each Manchester United player has been assessed using a combination of CIES Football Observatory and Transfermarkt.
How much is Manchester United worth?
According to research by two media outlets, United are expected to earn £846 million if they sell every player in their squad.
We already know the club has confirmed Alejandro Ganaccio, Kobe Meanu and Rasmus Hoylund as the only ones exempt from any potential exits.
Unsurprisingly, Marcus Rashford is the player with the most money on offer, worth a whopping £106m.
As he is an academy graduate, any sale of him would also be classed as direct profit, mitigating any potential profit and sustainability concerns.
Anthony is second with a net worth of £63 million. That would still represent a loss on the £86m they paid for him in 2022, but it would be more than one would expect given his performances.
Bruno Fernandes is valued at £60m, far less than anyone expected, but the fact that he is on the wrong side of the 30-year-old spectrum means clubs may be even more reluctant to spend big on the Portugal international.
In terms of wages, the departures of names like Christian Eriksen, Raphael Varane and Casemiro would be welcome, but in terms of transfer fees they are expected to be next to nothing, at least in football circles That's right.
