A 47-year-old woman who owned a home in suburban Queens, New York, was arrested after confronting a group of squatters who broke into her home.
Adele Andolaro was in the process of selling her $1 million childhood home in the Flushing neighborhood when she noticed a group of homeless people breaking into her vacant house, where she now lives over there.
After numerous attempts to get the trio to leave and to change the locks to ensure they could not come back in, the homeowner was arrested after police were called by an illegal resident of the property.

One of the men, reportedly wearing a black Trump T-shirt, addressed the media at the scene and said: “We're trying to get this guy out. I'm here to talk to him.”

New York City law states that a person only has to live in a property for 30 days to claim squatter rights.
The city's law was written in part in response to vacant and abandoned buildings, which were becoming a blight on the city.
In order for property owners to get rid of squatters, they must serve a 10-day eviction notice and file court proceedings if the order is ignored. If approved by a judge, the property owner can obtain a citation and have the sheriff evict the squatter.
According to locals, Andaloro lived in the house with her daughter and mother.
After her mother died a few years ago, she stayed in the house and rented out the basement to an old man and his dog, who was said to be a beloved member of the community.
When the man moved out of state, Andaloro put the house on the market.
