Guardiola's contract with Manchester City expires in 2025
Pep Guardiola has opened up about the job he wants to take after leaving Manchester City.
Guardiola enjoyed an incredibly brilliant tenure in the Premier League, winning five Premier League titles, four League Cups, two FA Cups, two Community Shields, a Champions League, a Super League Cup champion and a Club World Cup champion.
The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss' contract expires in 2025 and the 53-year-old has not ruled out staying at the Etihad Stadium.
Guardiola has ambitions to step onto the world stage
The Catalan, who has spent his entire managerial career at club level, has expressed a desire to try out for an international role.
While Guardiola did not specify which teams he was interested in, he revealed what he hopes to achieve should he eventually leave Manchester City.
“The national team. I want to train a national team for the World Cup or the European Championships. I hope so,” he told ESPN Brazil in February.
“I don't know who would want me! In order to work for the national team, they have to need you, just like the club.”
Guardiola opens up about goals and ambitions
When asked to explain his motivation for wanting to manage an international team, Guardiola revealed that he had never set himself a personal goal of winning a World Cup or a major continental tournament.
“I never thought about it that way (with the goal of winning the World Cup),” he added.
“When I started doing this I never thought about winning the league or winning the Champions League. No, I thought, do I have a job? OK.
“I want to experience the World Cup, European Cup, America's Cup, or other events. I am willing.
“I don't know when that will be, if it's five, 10, 15 years from now, but I hope to have the experience of being a head coach at a World Cup.”
Guardiola has been linked with coaching England, Spain and the United States in the past.
