“Four years from now we'll be talking about Declan Rice the same way we talk about Patrick Vieira”
Former Chelsea and England star Joe Cole believes Declan Rice can be as good as Patrick Vieira.
Rice joined Arsenal from West Ham United this summer. The Gunners beat Manchester City to sign Rice and paid a fee of 105 million pounds.
The midfielder may be the most expensive English player of all time, but he looks good value for money and is one of Mikel Arteta's best players, with the north London club still in contention once again Premier League champions.
On Saturday, he produced another impressive performance in Arsenal's 3-0 win over Bournemouth, scoring a goal and providing an assist.
“He will be there”
Last month, TNT sports commentator Joe Cole said that while Rice has yet to be drafted, he has the potential to join the ranks of all-time greats who have played for Arsenal, such as all-time winner Vieira.
“Dirk is a great player,” Kerr told Joe, “but they have some of the greatest players in history.
“I'm sure in four years we'll be talking about Declan Rice the same way we talk about Patrick Vieira and Cesc Fabregas, but I'm not going to embarrass him or put his name on There.”
Arsenal's win over Bournemouth puts them four points ahead of Manchester City in the league. However, Pep Guardiola's side still have two games to go in London, hosting Wolves at home on Saturday night.
