Should it be excluded?
Fans are divided over the decision to invalidate Manchester United's equalizer against Crystal Palace.
United got off to a terrible start, falling behind within 12 minutes as Michael Olise was allowed to run through the defense before firing into the bottom corner.
Crystal Palace could have taken a comfortable lead but United thought they had equalized in the 27th minute, only to have it disallowed.
Rasmus Hoylund and Dean Henderson both rose to challenge the ball, and although Hoylund eventually prevailed and saw the ball fall into the back of the net, referee Jared Gillette paused for a long moment. It took a long time before he and VAR felt that the Danish striker had fouled the goalkeeper.
“This was definitely not a foul on Dean Henderson”
Sky Sports' Alan Smith described the decision as “soft” and others seemed to agree.
“How is this a foul? The goalkeeper has no hands to catch the ball, Hojlund and Dean Henderson are 50/50 in the air, and the ball goes into the back of the net?” one fan said on X.
Another commented: “I don't think it's a foul on Dean Henderson at all but they're always going to get that keeper. I think that's Henderson's weakness in this situation. He's prone to being Bullying, this will catch up with Crystal Palace.
“This is definitely not a foul on Dean Henderson. The former Reds' shocking goalkeeper. He got away with it,” added a third.
A fourth wrote: Dean Henderson is a bit lucky here. It's a goalkeeper's decision to make with very little contact. There is no doubt that Rasmus Hoylund failed to win the ball, but Henderson also dived for it. If two midfielders jumped for the ball, the game might continue…”
“Obvious foul”
But not everyone thinks it's cruel, others think it's the right decision.
“Can't be the only one who thinks this is a clear foul,” one person said.
“Complete rubbish. He pulled his arm off when he was off the ground. Not even close yet,” claimed a second.
A third added: “His body clearly hit the goalkeeper in the air. Free kick.”
Things then went from bad to worse for the Red Devils, with in-form striker Jean-Philippe Matata doubling their lead.
