Fans claim they know exactly what Guardiola said to Eddie Howe after Manchester City's win over Newcastle United.

Manchester City advanced to the FA Cup semi-finals with a win over the Magpies as two strikes from Bernardo Silva took them to Wembley.

However, some fans believe Guardiola asked Howe why Newcastle were not playing as usual, claiming he told him and his assistant Jason Tindall: “This is not the way you usually play.”

Howe can be seen acknowledging the comments before the camera pans away.

“Not sure what was said but it’s still awkward to watch,” one user said.

“Having a pep talk to Eddie Howe and Jason Tindall after the final whistle: 'This is not the way you usually play football,' commented a second.

“Given that the cameras lost Pep, that can't be said. It looked like he might have said that wasn't it… but then it's completely impossible to know what exactly he said. You're making an assumption and passing it off as fact. Very bad,” added a third.

Limping at the end of the season

Saturday's FA Cup exit means Newcastle will end the season without any trophies, ending the campaign in a more disappointing way than last season.

Howe told reporters on Friday: “It's very frustrating. I said last year, when you go to the Newcastle game, you know what you're going to get. You're going to see a very competitive, aggressive, Solid and stable team.

“It's been a little different this year. We've been inconsistent. We've been going from game to game. I'm not saying you don't know what you're going to get and you're going to see guys giving 100 per cent, but we just It was different, we couldn't maintain the rhythm in the game.

“Even against Chelsea, we had inconsistent performances in that game – some very good, some not so good. That's what we're looking for, an identity you can trust.”
