still doing well

Erling Haaland has revealed there is one fundamental football rule he has yet to understand during his career.

Haaland has had an incredible time as a professional so far, scoring 18 goals in 23 Premier League games for City as they seek back-to-back trebles.

In an interview with the club, Haaland spoke about a range of topics, including things that “annoy him” and parts of his game that he can improve on.

Haaland reveals rules he's unfamiliar with

When it comes to one area of modern football that he is unhappy with, the striker discussed the concept of throw-ins.

The striker believes too many teams use underhanded tactics such as “stealing” too many meters and has called for goal-line technology to be introduced across the pitch.

“The first is introducing goal line technology across the entire pitch so you always know when the ball is out of bounds.”

It was at this point that Haaland admitted that he didn't actually understand the rules on throw-ins.

He said: “The thing that annoys me is the foul ball. It doesn't matter if you throw it this way or that way. Just make sure you have two hands on the ball.

“I don't even know the rules, and if I'm going to throw, I'm probably going to do it wrong. But whether you're throwing it straight down, straight up or whatever, it doesn't matter. I'm going to change that.

“We'll see what happens in the future but you need a certain time limit to accept throw-ins and you can't accept too many meters – just give a mark and you just have to go there.”

Haaland wants to improve

Despite already establishing himself as one of the world's top strikers, the Norway international is still looking to improve after scoring 52 goals in 53 games.

“There are still a lot of things that need to be improved,” he admits.

“When you play so many games, training is difficult because you have to prepare and do things that make you fit for the next game.

“I want to get better with the team, be more united with the team and perform well in the most important games.

“I want to repeat what we did last season.”
