Celtic took the lead in today's Old Firm fixture against Rangers in a strange way.
Joe Hart fired the ball into the Rangers half early on. The ball bounced smoothly between the home team's defence. Then, when Rangers defender James Tavernier tried to throw the ball away from danger, the ball bounced off the onrushing Daizen Maeda, giving the Hoops an early lead over their bitter rivals.
The visitors doubled their lead from the penalty spot in the 34th minute with Matt O'Riley's clinical finish from 12 yards. Despite Celtic's initial dominance, the home side fought back. Tavernier became the hero in the 54th minute when he fired a penalty kick into the top corner to give Rangers a glimmer of hope. The drama didn't end there as the league leaders thought they had equalized two minutes later through Cyriel Dessers, only for the goal to be canceled out by VAR.

Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton was not impressed with Rangers star Fabio Silva despite putting in a fine performance, saying: “Having been hanging around all afternoon. This is called cheating. John Beaton was quite right to give him a yellow card. “
Fabio Silva was given a yellow card for diving, which was later overturned by VAR and awarded a penalty kick.
A win for Celtic would take Brendan Rodgers' side four points above Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premiership.
