Still waiting for the sequel.
Looking for something to watch in tonight's TV movie? Well, look no further, we’ve got the answer for you.
Incredible war epic Masters and Commanders: The Other Side of the World This is our pick for the night, and more than twenty years later it still makes us sad that it never got a sequel.
Russell Crowe's next role after the huge success of “Gladiator” is as the arrogant British captain Jack Aubrey, leading his ship in pursuit of a powerful French warship around South America.
In the 2003 film, Paul Bettany, who starred with Crowe in A Beautiful Mind, played the ship's surgeon, and the two became one of the greatest screen duos in recent history.
“Master and Commander” is adapted from 20 books by Patrick O'Brian, perfectly creating a long-term series.
However, despite critical acclaim, it performed well below expectations at the box office and was overshadowed by The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, meaning any sequel was out of the question.
Watch it as we pray it returns in some form Movie 4 6.20pm. If you missed it, you can also watch it on Disney+.
