Manchester City will be free to spend up to £500m a year under new profit and sustainability rules voted by Premier League clubs.

The current controversial profitability and sustainability rules will be replaced by these updated rules as early as this summer.
The new conditions will eventually limit clubs participating in European competitions to only spending 70% of their income on transfer fees, player wages, etc.
If approved, the new rules will not affect ongoing cases at Everton, Nottingham Forest and Manchester City, which will continue to be judged based on existing financial models.
Last month, Everton had their previous 10-point deduction reduced to six following an appeal by the club.
Nottingham Forest will learn their fate on April 15 after being found guilty of major breaches during last summer's transfer window and owing several agents huge sums of money.
according to daily mail In January, Forest refused to pay bonuses, including Premier League survival payments, to players who left the club.
If the debt is not repaid or a settlement is not reached, legal action can be taken and may result in a winding-up application.
Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis is said to be at the center of the problem.
Speaking about the 70% cap on transfer fees and player wages, Maguire said the provision would “cost Manchester City around £500m a year in wages, agents, fees and net transfer costs”.
“Then it depends on how much Abu Dhabi wants to invest in Manchester City,” he added.
“Do they want to be close to the limit, or do they want to operate well within the limit and really become a more profitable organization?”
In short, if City maintained their current revenue levels, they could spend £500m per season and still comply with UEFA and Premier League financial regulations.
It appears to be a low-hanging fruit for the club, with City breaking the Premier League record for the 2022/2023 season with a total revenue of £713m.
