They may be all the rage, but air fryers aren't always perfect

Ah, the air fryer.

Ask a group of your friends if they have one and you can already guarantee there will be one and they will be raving about it.

To be fair, they're a great invention because you can cook all kinds of food with them – including grilled meats.

People are even ditching the traditional method of frying ingredients like bacon in favor of cooking in an air fryer because it's healthier and ten times more convenient.

But even the all-powerful air fryer isn't perfect.

Nutritionist Brenda Peralta urges people to think twice about cooking bacon in the air fryer and explains why it can cause trouble in the kitchen.

It’s a high-fat food, and when cooked in an air fryer, the fat can drip and cause smoke or splatter,” she tells Yahoo.

“Bacon strips are a small, delicate item that can be difficult to flip or remove from the air fryer basket without damaging it,” she says.

Although it is small, it can only hold a handful

“The air fryer basket may not be large enough to hold a large amount of bacon,” Peralta continues.

“This can make it difficult to cook large amounts of bacon at once, which can be inconvenient if you're cooking for a group of people.”

“This makes it difficult for the bacon to cook evenly and also creates a lot of smoke and odor.”
