Rotten Tomatoes didn't even rank this movie in the top 20

Seth Rogen claims no one has made a good high school movie since 2007's Superbad.

Rogan said in an interview with People that his fabelmann family Co-star Gabrielle Labelle spoke highly of the comedy he co-created with longtime collaborator Evan Goldberg, even though the 20-year-old Labelle was only four when the comedy was released.

“The crazy thing is, Gabe Labelle is 19 years old, and his and his friends' favorite movie is Superbad,” Rogen told the publication.

Then, he jokingly added: “So, for some reason, it never changed. No one has made a good high school movie since.”

His comments cast doubt on whether Rogan was actually right.

Complex says Olivia Wilde's directorial debut “Booksmart,” which currently has a 96% score on Rotten Tomatoes, is a strong example. Rotten Tomatoes lists 1971's “The Last Picture Show” as the best high school movie. On the top 70 list, “American Pie” ranks at No. 70 and “Superbad” ranks at No. 25.

Complex claims that if Rogen did issue the challenge, he might say that there hasn't been a high school movie as good as Superbad since its release.

“Superbad” producer Judd Apatow revealed on the “Inside of You” podcast with Michael Rosenbaum last year that he wanted to make a “Superbad” sequel, but they ultimately decided not to ruin it a good thing.

“I know Jonah (Hill) said 'Oh, it would be fun to do this when we're 70 or 80,' but I really hope they do a Superbad in college, Joe Na flunked college and just showed up, and then Apatow said, “I visited Michael Cera in college. “

“Everyone said 'No, we don't want to screw up Superbad by accidentally making a crappy second installment,'” he continued.

“I always say the same thing: 'Well, that's like saying don't do a second episode of 'The Sopranos.' It's like, so why do you think we're going to screw up the second one?”
