new horror movie Spend the night with the devil The film reportedly grossed $666,666 at the Sunday box office during its opening weekend.

Frankly, this horrific coincidence becomes less creepy when you consider the company's overall revenue for the weekend (Variety magazine reported $2.8 million).

But we still get goosebumps.

Not only did “Late Night with the Devil” please its creators with its chilling box office performance, it also received critical acclaim after its theatrical release.

The horror comedy was reportedly made with a budget of just $2 million, but its production costs have exceeded financial expectations.

The film stars David Dastmalchian as a late-night talk show star, and the synopsis reads: “Johnny Carson rival Jack Delroy hosts the long-running syndicated talk show 'Night Owls' It has been a trustworthy companion for insomnia patients across the country.

“However, since the tragic death of Jack's beloved wife, the show's ratings have plummeted. On October 31, 1977, Jack, desperate to reverse his fortunes, planned a Halloween special like no other show – little did he realize he was about to unleash evil into America's living rooms.

New horror film debuts at $666,666

“This weekend's release of 'Late Night with the Devil' refreshes our old opening record,” Scott Shooman, head of AMC Networks Films, parent company of film distributor IMC, told Variety.

“(It) continues to show that there is still potential for highly rated, smartly directed films in all genres of cinema.”

Critics raved about the film, giving it a whopping 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

empire – “A smart, original approach makes this more than just another Exorcist wannabe. You'll feel the horror coming, but you still won't feel ready.”

The Observer—— “Smart, cynical, and at times very funny, the film brings devastating static to the demonic possession genre.”

AV Club– “Almost everything about Late Night with the Devil goes right, from the sets to the costumes to the casting to the impeccable sound design. It's a gem on every level and it's already one of the best new releases of 2024 A serious contender for horror films.”

protector – “The director and Dasmalchian – self-righteously serious – are intrigued by a fresh premise that reminds us that light entertainment is the antechamber of hell.”

Despite rave reviews, Late Night with the Devil's reputation has been slightly tarnished in recent weeks as complaints came to light about the use of artificial intelligence to generate images.

Many of the cut-out images used in the film were generated with the help of artificial intelligence, which was met with backlash from audiences who felt that AI should be avoided when human artists could do a better job.
